Ellwood approached us with a very interesting project, definitely something that would push us into uncharted waters. It started with a little sketch he shared and an overall vision. 
Much like every Halo, this was an intensively collaborative effort. 

Firstly, we looked for the sweet spot where the original idea and ergonomics meet. Then we started putting together the wood combo that would unify the look while producing the desired tone. Quite a few ideas were discarded or replaced by better ones after testing - a lot of testing!

The high-grade roasted, flamed maple body is thicker than our usual and chambered, the top is a beautiful maple burl set. Custom pickups by Nordstrand are housed into Richlite casings and positioned for true fretless heaven tone. 

The five-piece wenge/roasted, flamed maple neck is reinforced with graphite rods. The fingerboard is a Richlite/stainless steel combo with engraved fret lines. 

Riviera bridge/tuners coupled with our distinctive string anchor at the mini-headstock, matching magnetic cavity cover, and vintage-style knobs (a very nice touch Ellwood requested). 

This bass is the result of months of collaboration with the owner and the process itself is at the very least as memorable as the instrument itself.
