HALO #5  Evora - SOLD

We are extremely proud of how this project turned out. Much like every Halo, this one too has a story to tell.

Jim wanted a 30" scale bass that fits inside our smallest long gig bag - the 23" long that fits the Miezo. Tone wise, he wanted a quasi-classical guitar voice together with solid bass-like lows.

Since our smallest, 23" gig bag only fits a 21 fret 30" scale neck ( check out the 3023 ), fitting a 24 fret neck was clearly the tricky bit. The pictures reveal how that as achieved - including concealing and storing the truss-rod cover. Quite elegantly, if I may say so myself.

The fully hollowed body morphs together the X3M and the G design. It's comfortable to play, neutrally balanced , very light and roomy enough to add a pleasing hollow-body voice to the instrument.

The black walnut body core is sandwiched between two walnut laminates: a book-matched top and a one-piece back. The graphite reinforced, 5A roasted flamed maple neck and a beautiful flamed blackwood ebony board compete the picture. Jim added the stylish paua abalone blocks, a nod to ancient Chinese symbols.

Pickups are Bartolini CBJD Original series, for a smoother tone. Controls are vol, blend, tone. True to our long standing tradition, the back cavity cover is magnetic and holds all the necessary tools.

Evora's voice is a thing of beauty. Huge, smooth lows, sweet top-end and even, clear mids. It effortlessly shifts from solid bass tone to crystal clear arpeggios and chords. Motown and J S Bach at the tip of you finger. All that, wrapped in silky, classy satin lacquer.

Thank you, Jim!
